The Columbian Squires is an international Catholic young mens organization sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Throughout North America and the Philippeans there are more than twenty-thousand Squires. The age range of the Squires is ten to eighteen years, and the purpose of the Squires is to develop in its members the qualities desired in young Catholic gentleman. These qualities are leadership, commitment to the Church, service of the community, and commitment to healthy physical development. The Columbian Squires offers to young men the opportunity to grow in all of these areas. Foremost among these qualities is leadership. For in the Columbian Squires the amount that one puts in determines the amount that one gets out. Commitment to organizing and participating in Squire activities, recruiting new members, and leading other Squires by example is what enables the Squire to build character, meant new people, make lasting friendships, and have fun. Thus, being a Squire requires a young man to be a leader, and being an active Squire teaches him to be a leader. The Squires are supported in their efforts by Knights of Columbus Counsellors. These Knights provided the Squires with guidance and support during their years as Squires.

Just as the Knights of Columbus organization is divided into individual local Councils and has an executive elected by the members, the Columbian Squires have individual local Circles that are sponsored by the local Knights Council and an elected executive. John Paul Circle receives its sponsorship from Credit Valley Council. Leading the circle there is the Chief Squire, the Deputy-Chief Squire, the Notary, and the Bursar. All the Squires participate in the nominations and elections of these positions, and all Squires are eligible for these positions.

All Squires Circles have activities. John Paul Circle has weekly gym meetings when all the Squires get together and play in the gym of St. Gregorys School. There is a monthly general business meeting at the same location. The Circle also assists monthly at the Knights of Columbus bingo for the elderly at Chelsey Park nursing home. The circle also has a wide variety of other activities all of which are determined by its members. The more interest and the more leadership that the Squires display the more activities there are. Every year the Squires of Ontario are invited to participate in the Annual Convention and the annual summer weekend camp. At the annual convention, the Squires meet in a hotel for the weekend and mingle with other Squires from around the province while participating in a variety of activities. On the yearly agenda are the nomination and elections of the provincial board members. Every circle has three delegates who represent the circle and vote on its behalf. All Squires are eligible to be provincial board members. The camp takes place in September and is another opportunity for Squires from around the province to have a lot of fun together.
